Hotter Shoes App Success Story

hotter case study

Hotter Shoes is the UK’s biggest footwear manufacturer. The specialist footwear brand has over four million customers globally, selling over 1.3 million pairs of shoes a year. Hotter.com is a digitally-led omnichannel specialty footwear brand with a clearly defined, large and growing target audience.

Hotter’s poq-powered native iOS and Android mobile apps are the first in their class to offer augmented reality (AR) for digital sizing so customers can try products for fit, colour and design virtually before their purchase.

How Hotter transformed its mobile shopping experience with poq native mobile apps

“It’s amazing to think people will be able to try shoes on while in the comfort of their own home, ordering straight to their door with the peace of mind that their new shoes will fit well and look great. Coupled with the technology now available across all of our stores, we will be offering convenience, precision fitting and high quality service every step of the way.”*

Hotter finds the right mobile app fit

Challenges

Hotter prides itself on developing the very best comfort technology to design its shoes and wanted to introduce innovative technology to enhance its customer experience too.

Customers can visit Hotter’s stores to benefit from 3D technology fitting services from SafeSize. When the retailer wanted to bring the same convenience to their customers online it turned to its trusted, native mobile app platform provider, poq, to translate its proposition into a digital flagship experience so that its customers could access anywhere.

Solution

Building on recent online growth, Hotter Shoes wanted to offer immersive AR functionality into its poq mobile apps so customers could browse its range from the comfort of their homes, or on the go. The extensibility of the poq platform made it possible for Hotter to integrate third-party technology from AR specialists, Wanna, and take full advantage of poq’s native mobile shopping app platform and capabilities.

Hotter’s poq apps now offer:

Immersive shopping experiences

  • Help to find the perfect fit and shoes with ease and discover new styles

Engaging and added-value content

  • Quick access to unique in-app only offers and the ability to create wish lists

Results

Working with native mobile app platform for retail, poq, Hotter Shoes relaunched its iOS and Android apps, which now enable AR-based foot sizing and the ability to view shoes on your feet without needing to visit one of its stores. The AR integration helps Hotter customers browse and find their perfect fit from over 40 size and width combinations, as well as buy in a safe and secure checkout environment.

Ian Watson, CEO, Hotter, commented: “Our new smartphone app is just another step to ensure our customers can always find the very best comfort, however they want to shop with us. We’ve had amazing feedback already for the app, and we’re improving it continuously as we drive forward with our digital strategy.”*

What do you love most about Hotter’s app?

“I was undecided between two pairs and found that I could “virtually” try them on with the click of a button. I could then see the two pairs on my feet from all angles … and loved them both so much I decided to buy both pairs!! They arrived yesterday (the following day after ordering on the app) and they’re just as good in the flesh!”
