Poq and Fashion Angel: getting fashion brands selling on mobile

Last Wednesday we held our first free seminar for independent fashion brands, with Alison Lewy of Fashion Angel and Sonja Todd from Tatty Devine.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it a great evening, and major thanks to Alison and Sonja for all their help.

Some brilliant tips came out of the discussion, including the recommendation that small fashion brands choose which channels they want to use and focus on those, rather than trying to create content for every new social media fad and getting overwhelmed. We also talked about the value of push notifications as a way to drive sales on your app (it’s like text messaging your customers!), and the need to keep product ranges tight.

As usual, the importance of having great images was a recurring theme. Brands that have more images tend to sell more products. Sonja recommended making model shots a priority – this doesn’t have to be expensive, try asking friends and family to volunteer as models, and asking student photographers to take the images for their portfolio. Then as you grow in size, always set some budget aside to improve your images.

If you couldn’t make it, read Michael’s presentation from the event below, including Sonja’s top 5 tips for improving your online marketing, and Poq’s 5 tips for getting mobile.
