3 most vital mobile stats on Google Analytics

Demo Jam | Poq - the app commerce company

Do you know how many people are visiting your website on their phone? If you’re a fashion or design brand thinking about getting mobile, it’s a pretty vital first step. Luckily, if you’re using Google Analytics it’s easy to find out.

There are three important pieces of info you need to know:

  1. How many people are visiting your website on mobile
  2. How your mobile bounce rate compares to your desktop bounce rate
  3. Which devices your mobile visitors are using.

Okay, so after you’ve logged-in to Google Analytics, go to your ‘Audience’ tab on the left hand side, then expand the ‘Mobile’ heading.

Click on ‘Overview’ and you’ll see this handy little table, which compares your mobile and desktop traffic.

Here’s where you check the first important thing, which the number of visitors to your website using mobile. It’s right there in the first column.

You can also see the second important thing, which is the comparative bounce rates of mobile and desktop visitors, over on the right hand side. If your mobile bounce rate is a lot higher than the desktop equivalent, you could have a problem.

So now for the third stat! Go to your left-hand overview menu again, and click on ‘Devices’. You’ll see this table.

Here’s where you can find out your third important stat – which mobile devices your website visitors are using. Don’t forget the menu up at the top, which lets you also look at which specific device they’re on, their service provider, operating system, and more.

So there you go, an easy way to get an idea of your mobile customer!

Of course there’s a lot more you can do by segmenting the data, depending on how geeky you want to get, but if you have these three pieces of information you’ll be all set to decide on your mobile strategy.
